The Problem With TPT Keyword Lists (and what to do instead) SEOTpreneur News 58

You know those TPT keyword lists that get published every now and then? Some of the keywords are solid opportunities. Others? Not so much.

I used a tool to find the real unicorn keywords—higher search volume with lower competition.

If you’re curious,

👉 here’s a short list of 60 keywords for January, February, and March (fewer than 5,000 resources).

👉 And some more keywords for April, May, and June

But here’s the problem with TPT keyword lists…

You see a trending keyword like groundhog day craft or leprechaun trap, and you think…

“Great, but how does this help my store?”

Why chase keywords that don’t fit your niche? Even if you rank for a high-traffic keyword, if your titles, covers, descriptions, and previews aren’t working, buyers will just scroll past.

TPT uses dynamic reranking on the first (few) page(s) of results, so if your competitors get more clicks in the last 30 days, they’ll rank higher—even if you were there first.

So, what should you do instead?

Rather than chasing keywords, fix the leaky buckets in your sales funnel.

You can do this yourself:

1️⃣ Read this post
2️⃣ Use this free Google Sheet tool to find the leaky buckets.
3️⃣ Go back to Step 1. It tells you what to do if your conversion rate is low, your preview rate is low, etc.
