Your TPT Journey: From Frustration to Growth

TPT can be a frustrating place. You can do everything right and still not see results.

  • Experienced sellers are feeling it—your top-selling products used to show up on page one. Now they’re on page two. That’s a huge drop in sales. (One seller told me that being at the top of a high-volume keyword is like winning the lottery.)

  • Newer sellers are struggling too. Even when they find those keyword unicorns (high search volume, low competition), their products still don’t make it to page one.

Time to make a decision.

I’m speaking at a conference about being a teacherpreneur: from classroom to cash.

One of the key ideas I’m sharing is this shift in mindset—from teacher to teacherpreneur.

We all have a finite amount of time. And there are really only two ways to make money:

  • Option 1: Get paid for your time.
    Think classroom teaching: you show up, do the work, and get paid a set amount—no matter how great the lesson was.

  • Option 2: Use your time to create assets.
    This is what we do as TPT sellers. We build something that may—or may not—make money. But if we do it well, we can get paid disproportionately for it over time.

We’re all racing to make the most effective use of our time.

And that’s where the frustration comes in. Because we want results. We want to see progress. But being a teacherpreneur isn’t like being a teacher.

It’s more like planting a seed.

  • You water it. Nothing happens.
  • You keep watering. Still nothing.
  • But underneath, it’s building roots.

🌱 And then one day, it sprouts.

Three things you can control in your TPT business:

There’s a lot we can’t control—like the economy, the algorithm, or the new TPT product page layout.

But here’s where we can spend our time:

  • Product creation
  • Product updating
  • Product marketing (a.k.a. Bring Your Own Eyeballs)
