I updated my TPT resource…

I thought I was doing everything right.

✅ Keyword research? Check.
✅ Better product title? Check.
✅ Improved cover & description? Check.
✅ Easier-to-use download? Check.

I even swapped out a messy ZIP folder for a single, print-and-teach PDF.

and it DROPPED in rank?!

But instead of climbing the TPT ranks for April Fools Day… my resource dropped from position 272 to 411 for “April Fools Day”. 🤯

Not what I expected.

So, what went wrong?

  • Could changing my title from April Fool’s Joke to April Fools Day have tanked my ranking?
  • Did switching from a ZIP to a PDF mess with the algorithm?
  • Is there some hidden penalty that I accidentally triggered?
  • Did a hundred new “April Fools Day” resources jump ahead of me? (Nope – only a handful.)

I’m digging into this right now—because if this happened to me, it could happen to you too.

Here’s the big question:

If I restore my title, description, cover, and download… will my rank recover?
