How Effective Are Your TPT Previews? SEOTpreneur News 58
I was talking with a top seller the other day about how accurate the preview effectiveness rate is.
(Preview effectiveness is the number of sales / number of previews.)
It’s a fair question. Not everyone who looks at a preview buys. Not everyone who buys looks at a preview. But if you’re looking at patterns, that’s the way to bet.
For low-priced resources (like $1), teachers often skip the preview—it’s faster to just buy. But for big-ticket items (like a $100 bundle), the preview is key to closing the sale. It reassures buyers that your resource delivers way more value than the asking price.
And yes, there are some quirks with all TPT data. Previews can be loaded from a bundle. Pageviews get inflated when someone refreshes. Reviews aren’t left at the same rate for every product.
But here’s the thing…
Data doesn’t have to be perfect to be useful.
We use pageviews to estimate interest. We use reviews to estimate sales. And we can use preview effectiveness to compare products and see what’s working.
That’s the real power of data:
✅ Spot patterns.
✅ Make educated guesses about why they happen.
✅ Do more of what’s working.
✅ Monitor results to see if you’re right. (This is the one most of us skip…)

I deeply appreciate all that I am learning from you. The fact that I am up 31% this month over last year and there are 11 more days left is VERY motivating.
